You're Not Broken (Singer-Songwriter Variety)

You're Not Broken

Life can seem impossible
It takes all that you are
Like an avalanche, unstoppable,
Like jumping for a rising bar

You keep trying to fix yourself
But can't seem to find what's wrong.
You know you have to fix yourself
Maybe you're not strong enough.

Enough! You are enough.
Enough of this!
You're so much more than this.
So, stop trying to fix
What is not broken.

You're not broken,
You're just not finished yet.
No, you're not broken,
Just not your whole self yet.

Before a dragonfly takes first flight
It takes on fifteen forms
For each stage of life, a shape that's right
Two years before the dragon's born.

Every stage of change perfection
Each one closer to flight
Its nature is evolution
Guided by an inner light

You don't need a solution for your evolution
Trust your inner light.
You don't need to repair
It's time to prepare,
You're about to take flight.

So don't try to fix what is not broken.

You're not broken,
You're just not finished yet.
No, you're not broken,
Just not your whole self yet
You're not broken
Trust your inner light
You're not broken
You just haven't taken flight.

You don't need a solution for your evolution
Trust your guiding light
You don't need to repair; it's time to prepare.
You're about to take flight.

If it feels like you're falling
Then spread your wings and fly!
You're not broken
Spread your wings and fly!

Welcome to the Our Minds Change Journey. I'm glad you're here.

Maybe you've tried everything: read the books, done the programs, seen the therapists, the doctors, and the healers. Maybe you've spent years searching for what's wrong with you so you can finally fix it and get on with your life.

Or maybe you're just beginning to ask questions, sensing that there's more to who you are than what you've been told.

Wherever you're starting from, I want to tell you something that might be hard to hear at first, but I believe it will set you free:

You're not broken. You never were.

There's a strange irony at the heart of most self-improvement. The very act of trying to fix yourself reinforces the belief that you're broken. Every new diet, every new therapy, every new program carries an implicit message that you're not okay as you are. While growth, healing, and change are beautiful and necessary at times, there can be a constant push to chase healing rooted in the belief that your current self is fundamentally flawed.

Here's what many people I've worked with don't realize: this belief isn't just a thought. It's a frequency. What you believe about yourself creates a powerful energetic resonance, and your resonance attracts matching experiences. If you hold the image "I am broken," life delivers experiences that match. Not because you're doing something wrong, but because the universe responds to your resonance.

This is why the foundation matters so much. When you approach change from "I'm broken and need to be fixed," you're building on sand. When you approach it from "I'm whole, experiencing challenges, and I'm evolving," you're building on rock.

So if you're not a broken body or mind that needs fixing, what are you?

Your body can be injured, ill, and even broken. Your mind can be strained, traumatized, and get stuck in survival patterns. But the truth I've come to know is you are not your body and you are not your mind. You are a soul, a whole and perfect expression of the Source, temporarily experiencing life in physical form.

When you identify as your body or your mind, you may feel broken when your body is damaged or when your mind is struggling. But when you remember what you truly are, consciousness itself having a human experience, you realize that the deepest "you" cannot be broken. The soul isn't a thing that can be damaged. It is awareness itself.

This isn't spiritual bypassing. Your body can hurt AND you can be whole. Both are true at the same time.

This doesn't mean to ignore what needs healing. It means to do what needs to be done with a deeper knowing that you are still whole, complete, and perfect.

You don't need a solution for your evolution. You just need to trust your inner light and follow where it leads. How to do that is one of the many tings this journey will offer you.

This Week's Practice: Creating a Safety Anchor

Before any deeper work can happen, your nervous system needs to know it's safe. This practice creates a physical anchor you can return to anytime. It's a way to bring your body back to calm when stress tries to take over.

Find a comfortable position and begin breathing slowly. Inhale gently through your nose for a count of four. Hold softly for a count of two. Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of six to eight, longer than your inhale. This extended exhale signals to your nervous system that you're not in danger, that it's safe to settle.

Place your hands gently on your chest, creating a light movement with just enough pressure to move your skin. Allow your touch to be soothing and find a place that feels relaxing and connecting

Continue this breathing for several rounds until you notice something shift: a softening in your shoulders, a deeper breath, or a subtle sense of settling. A sigh or a yawn is a common signal that your nervous system is shifting into more ease.

Feel the warmth of your palm, the rhythm of your heartbeat. While you're in this calmer state, choose a simple gesture like gently squeezing the thumb of your non-dominant hand or keeping your hand on your heart and gently tapping.

As you hold this gesture, speak these words silently or aloud:

"This is safety. This is presence. This is who I really am. I am a soul. I am whole, perfect, and evolving. I trust my inner light."

This is your anchor. With practice, your nervous system will begin to associate the gesture with the calm you're creating now, making it easier to return to center even in difficult moments. In the future, when stress rises or old patterns try to pull you back, you can use this gesture to remind your body what safety feels like.

Practice this daily. Each time, you practice this gesture when in a state of calm, you reinforce the anchor.

Even as a whole, perfect soul, life in this world is challenging and can knock us down. Next week we'll explore what happens when we hit the ground, what the new view offers, and why getting back up is where the real growth lives.

With Love,
Jason
